I just made a research to find inspirational images for my personal project for my photojournalism class. I have decided to make a project about Little India, a South Asian neighborhood located at Seventy-Fourth Street between Roosevelt Avenue and 37th Avenue and the surrounding blocks. This is a great and colorful neighborhood where I can find many interesting subjects to photograph. I have been shooting for couple of weeks, yet I feel that my angles and lighting are no good enough for what I'm looking for. I started an online research for my project, and I came across with a famous image of the Afghan Girl, published on the cover of National Geographic and toured the world. Afghan Girl was shot in December 1984 by Steve McCurry. McCurry is an American Photojournalist photographer best known for his evocative color photography and the talent he has to capture the essence of human struggle and joy.
